Recently, the 13th Zhejiang University MBA Alumni Mentor Program and the "Chengzhang" series training sessions were grandly held at the Zhejiang University School of Management. Shen Peng, founder and CEO of Waterdrop Inc. (NYSE: WDH), was appointed as an MBA alumni mentor for Zhejiang University.
In this role, he will leverage his years of accumulated experience in entrepreneurial practice, corporate management, and inclusive healthcare to engage in in-depth exchanges with Zhejiang University MBA students, sharing frontline entrepreneurial insights and cutting-edge industry perspectives to support the growth and development of young talent.
Shi Chenhui, Deputy Director of the Professional Degree Office at Zhejiang University Graduate School, stated that external mentors, with their profound industry insights and practical experience, can effectively complement the limitations of campus education. Forming "dual mentor groups" with on-campus faculty, they jointly break the boundaries of the classroom and enhance students' practical abilities.

As a doctoral graduate jointly trained by Zhejiang University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shen Peng has deep ties with Zhejiang University. He also serves as Vice President of the Zhejiang University-Hong Kong Polytechnic University Joint Center Alumni Association and has long been committed to talent cultivation and the integration of industry, academia, and research.
This appointment as a Zhejiang University MBA alumni mentor represents the university's high recognition of Shen Peng's achievements over the years in business practice and social responsibility.
Starting his entrepreneurial journey in 2010 as employee number 10 at Meituan, participating in the creation of Meituan Waimai in 2013, and founding Waterdrop Inc. in 2016, Shen Peng has led his team in building benchmark businesses such as Waterdrop Crowdfunding, Waterdrop Insurance Marketplace, and Yifan Medicine, propelling the company to become a leading insurance technology and healthcare platform in China.
Under his leadership, Waterdrop Inc. has consistently focused on using technology to drive the upgrade of inclusive health protection. The "Jinqing Bang" medical insurance anti-poverty project, developed in partnership with Jinyun County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, was successfully selected as a global best poverty reduction case. The self-developed "Waterdrop Shuishou Large Model" has been deeply integrated into the entire insurance service process, charting a development path that combines both commercial and social value in the insurtech field.
Beyond his deep involvement in business practice, Shen Peng has always prioritized empowering young talent. He previously held roles including MBA Entrepreneur Mentor at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, 2023 MBA Alumni Mentor at Peking University Guanghua School of Management, mentor for The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's "Enlightening Wisdom Mentorship Program," member of the Faculty Board of the HKU Business School, Industry Mentor for the School of Finance at Central University of Finance and Economics, and Visiting Professor at the Business School of China University of Political Science and Law. He has frequently visited university classrooms to share entrepreneurial insights, encouraging young students to immerse themselves in their industries and pursue pragmatic innovation.
