The current period marks the optimal window for road construction, and Tai'an's highway departments are pushing forward with maintenance projects on ordinary national and provincial highways to enhance road quality. Four projects have already commenced, including the rehabilitation of the G104 Jinglan Line from the Jinan-Tai'an border to Manzhuang, the pavement upgrade of the S103 Jizao Line from the Jinan-Tai'an border to Huangqian, the repair of the S237 Zhangxin Line from Nantaizi to the Cuilai Mountain Fire Brigade, and the restoration of the S243 Tailiang Line from Dongping Guolou Bridge to the Liangshan border. Additionally, the S241 Linxu Line from the Tai'an-Laiwu border to the Daiyue-Cuwen border and the S243 Tailiang Line from Feicheng Taoyuan to Dongping Dayang are ready and set to begin shortly.
On August 19, at the G104 Jinglan Line construction site, two pavers and three rollers were observed carrying out asphalt paving operations amid rising heat. The project manager explained that the road surface will feature a 4-centimeter layer of SBS high-viscosity modified fine-grained asphalt concrete, offering strong adhesion, high wear resistance, resistance to rutting and aging, and excellent smoothness. Compared to traditional asphalt, this method significantly reduces cracking, potholes, and rutting, enhancing overall road stability and longevity from the ground up.
Spanning 26.654 kilometers from the Jinan-Tai'an border to the Manzhuang interchange, the G104 project is a vital national highway link connecting Jinan and Tai'an, serving as a key component of the regional transportation network. Construction began on August 3, and to minimize disruption to public travel, the project employs a combination of half-width closure with two-way traffic and segmented closures, advancing in stages to balance efficiency with commuter needs.
Meanwhile, the S103 Jizao Line pavement upgrade and the S237 Zhangxin Line repair started on July 28, while the S243 Tailiang Line restoration kicked off on August 3. This year's maintenance program for ordinary national and provincial highways is progressing vigorously. A representative from the Highway Development Center's maintenance division stated, "We are coordinating construction progress, quality, safety, and environmental protection, with full-time supervision at key stages like milling and asphalt paving. By enforcing strict standards, we aim to deliver exemplary maintenance projects. These efforts will address existing road defects, boost capacity and service levels, and play a significant role in improving the road network, fostering cultural and tourism integration, and supporting high-quality regional economic growth."
