On the afternoon of August 6, Sohu.com founder, chairman, and CEO Charles Zhang marked the 10th anniversary of his "Charles Zhang's English Class" by bringing the classic online format of "reading news while learning English" to an offline event.
During the event, Zhang used real-time handwritten English and detailed sentence-by-sentence analysis of English news articles to break down authentic expressions and sentence structures, enabling participants to understand global events while expanding their international perspective.
In a discussion with media outlets including Sina Tech, Zhang shared his insights on learning English, stating: "English expression carries an inherent culture that reveals how English-speaking people think and approach problems. It is a very precise language, with layered delivery that helps learners enhance their rational, logical thinking."
Zhang noted that his English learning has been driven by cognition and values, rather than external pressure, describing it as a worthwhile and enjoyable endeavor, not a burden. "Doing English livestreams has indeed required many sacrifices, but overall, I remain very interested in it. It's not a burden or a chore," he said.
