Mining Sector Electric Transition Accelerates as 60 Haul Trucks Powered by Weichai Batteries Reach Inner Mongolia Client

Deep News08-05

In an effort to support the national carbon peak and neutrality goals and advance the construction of eco-friendly mining operations, 60 new-energy mining trucks equipped with Weichai Power Co.,Ltd. batteries have been recently delivered to a client in Inner Mongolia.

This collaborative delivery aims to achieve a dual benefit of environmental protection and operational profitability, injecting fresh momentum into the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the mining industry.

The low-carbon, pure-electric battery system enables true zero-emission transportation, effectively reducing pollution discharge in mining areas and supporting the practical implementation of green mine development.

As a leader in energy efficiency, the system boasts a cycle life of 4,500 charges and consumes 75% less energy than diesel-powered vehicles. It recovers 90% of energy during downhill travel, and under certain operating conditions, power consumption approaches near zero, perfectly matching the high-intensity, long-cycle demands of mining operations.

Built to withstand tough conditions, the trucks use a new LFP blade battery with vibration resistance four times the national standard, capable of handling mine gravel and severe vibrations. They operate reliably in a wide temperature range from -35掳C to 65掳C, maintaining power on high-altitude slopes and other harsh terrains.

For rapid recharging, the system employs flash-charging technology, taking only 30 minutes to go from 20% to 80% charge. This seamlessly aligns with shift changes in mining operations, enabling uninterrupted 24-hour work cycles.

As new-energy mining trucks enter a phase of explosive large-scale adoption, Weichai Power will continue to deepen its focus on mining electrification technology. By offering products and services with greater scenario adaptability, the company aims to help more mining enterprises achieve cost reduction, efficiency gains, and carbon cutting, driving green energy into the high-quality development of China's mining industry.
