China Launches Fourth-Generation Independent Superconducting Quantum Computer with Full-Scale Autonomy

Deep News05-09

On May 9, it was reported that the "Origin Wukong-180" quantum computer, equipped with a domestically developed superconducting quantum chip featuring 180 computational qubits per core, has commenced operations and is now accepting global quantum computing tasks. The fourth-generation independent superconducting quantum computer "Origin Wukong-180" is entirely self-developed in China, achieving full-chain autonomy and control. Its four critical core systems—the quantum computing chip system, quantum computing measurement and control system, quantum computing environmental support system, and quantum computer operating system—are all independently developed by Origin Quantum.

In terms of core parameters, the Origin Wukong-180 is equipped with a single-core superconducting quantum chip containing 180 computational qubits, along with an additional 251 coupling qubits, enabling hundred-qubit-level quantum computing within a single-chip architecture. Its performance metrics are leading: single-qubit logic gate fidelity reaches 99.9%, two-qubit fidelity is 99%, and readout fidelity stands at 99%, making it ready for practical computational applications. For comparison, the third-generation Origin Wukong, launched in January 2024, was equipped with a 72-qubit chip comprising 72 working qubits and 126 coupling qubits.

The launch of Origin Wukong-180 marks China's transition from 72-qubit to 180-qubit superconducting quantum computing, signifying further maturity in the independent and controllable industrial chain. This computer will provide computing power to global users, supporting applications in quantum algorithm development, material simulation, biomedicine, financial analysis, and other fields, thereby facilitating continued breakthroughs in China's quantum technology frontier.
