Positions such as robotics service engineer, maintenance engineer, and customer service roles related to embodied robots are diverse and unique. On March 18, students from Beijing Vocational University of Science and Technology began a special course at JD.com's Beijing headquarters. On that day, Beijing's first校企共建 embodied intelligent robotics定向班, jointly established by the university and JD.com, officially commenced. The first batch of 21 students experienced the corporate culture and learned fundamental knowledge of embodied robots at JD.com's headquarters campus in Yizhuang.
In the development of vocational education,校企合作 is key to improving talent training quality and supporting industrial upgrading. Xin Xiulan, Vice President of Beijing Vocational University of Science and Technology, stated that the collaboration between the university and JD.com is an important practice based on cutting-edge industry development and对接企业用人需求. It not only builds a high-quality employment bridge for students but also provides solid assurance for enterprises to precisely cultivate talent that meets job requirements. "We will work with JD.com to optimize talent training plans, promoting precise alignment between course content and enterprise needs, as well as deep integration of teaching processes with practical production," she said.
Both parties will also jointly explore a progressive training path of "recognizing posts—shadowing posts—internships," allowing students to develop strong skills in real work environments. It was learned that this robotics定向班 primarily targets second-year students from the university's School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, focusing on the robotics and intelligent manufacturing sector to cultivate high-end skilled talent. The first batch of 21 students was jointly selected by the university and the enterprise.
Wu Hao, a student in the定向班, shared that during a social practice opportunity in the summer of 2025, he worked at a robot 4S store, where he was responsible for explaining and operating robots. "It was through this experience that I became interested in robot maintenance and control," he said. Delighted to be admitted to the定向班, Wu Hao expressed his hope to "acquire a practical, cutting-edge, and hands-on skill here," and to enhance his practical abilities and operational proficiency through the guidance of university and enterprise mentors, laying a solid foundation for future employment.
Liu Jiawei and Zhao Ran, two other students in the定向班, both expressed a strong interest in robotics. "Our daily studies are also related to robot maintenance. Many courses in the定向班 are taught by enterprise instructors, which will help us better align with future job requirements," they noted.
Huang Dunhua, Dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the university, explained that the first batch of定向班 students was selected from various majors within the school. In addition to completing their original专业 courses, students will study subjects such as robotics integration technology, operation and maintenance, and design optimization. The定向班 provides students with both internal and external "dual mentors," with hands-on practical sessions accounting for over 60% of the curriculum. Each week, senior instructors from JD.com will teach classes based on the company's new equipment, technologies, processes, and standards.
Students will participate in real industrial projects during their studies, gaining early workplace experience and achieving a smooth transition from "student" to "enterprise employee." Huang Dunhua revealed that the scale of the embodied robotics定向班 will continue to expand. "It is expected that more outstanding students will be selected from the new freshman cohort in September this year to join the定向班."
