Northwest Sichuan Gas Field Pushes Multiple Key Projects to Sprint Toward Annual Target With "Every Cubic Meter Counts"

Deep News10-27

"It's flowing, it's flowing, it's finally come back to life." In golden October, as cheers erupted in the duty room, Shuangtan 12 well at the Shuangyushi gathering and transportation station 鈥?a "water well" that had been silent for a full year 鈥?was rescued through the efforts of the entire field's cadres and employees. Today, this old well can stably produce more than 20,000 cubic meters of gas per day.

"Every cubic meter counts" is not a slogan, but a reality being accelerated at every well and every project by the Northwest Sichuan Gas Field of Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company: in July of this year, the Wenqian 5H well ran smoothly just 10 days after being put into production, opening up a new front for large-scale reserve growth and production increase of tight gas in the Southwest Oil and Gas Field; in the first half of the year, the gas field's natural gas output increased by 19.72% year-on-year, setting a new record high; in July, the Shuangtan 18 well tested and obtained a daily gas production of 1.8688 million cubic meters from an old well, becoming the third million-cubic-meter-level gas well in the Southwest Oil and Gas Field that year.

Since the beginning of this year, the gas field has pursued a "four-dimensional" approach: opening incremental windows through accelerated projects, consolidating the production foundation through dual-track continuation of marine and tight gas, safeguarding the safety bottom line of bottleneck links and high-risk operations through technological empowerment, and opening up value depth for a ten-billion-cubic-meter gas field through market development and green transformation 鈥?contributing Northwest Sichuan strength to the branch company's sprint toward a 512-million-cubic-meter production target.

Project Acceleration: Front-Loading Work to Seize Incremental Windows

The speed of capacity construction often determines the window period for incremental gains. The approach of the Northwest Sichuan Gas Field is to do the work "before groundbreaking": launching in advance the preliminary design compilation for more than 10 single wells in the Daxingchang, Shuangyushi blocks and the southwestern Sichuan area, implementing a combination of measures including scheme optimization, front-loaded planning and approval, strengthened material reserves, and introduction of competitive construction 鈥?systematically resolving project construction bottlenecks.

Taking the ZT1 well as an example, as the first major breakthrough exploration and production integrated well in the LWM formation of western Sichuan, it adopted a "temporary process + formal commissioning" fast-build and fast-commissioning model, achieving successful one-time production, with the external pipeline and surface engineering advancing rapidly in parallel.

Even more strategically significant is the Jiange block reef-shoal gas reservoir pilot production surface engineering project. This is the first self-operated ultra-deep high-sulfur gas reservoir pilot production project in the Southwest Oil and Gas Field. Upon completion, it will add approximately 500 million cubic meters of annual capacity and is positioned as an important capacity project for the "500 million production increase" campaign, as well as the first battle in the Northwest Sichuan Gas Field's new "5 billion capacity construction" campaign.

The significance of project acceleration goes beyond "speed" 鈥?it lies in turning every new capacity project into an evaluable, replicable, and scalable technical sample: conducting pilot production evaluation immediately after commissioning, precisely calculating capacity scale and reserve recoverability, and accumulating process parameters for the large-scale development of ultra-high-pressure, ultra-deep sulfur-containing gas reservoirs.

Capacity Continuation: "Three Lines Advancing" to Consolidate the Production Foundation

The gas field's capacity growth is not a single-point breakthrough but a three-dimensional continuation system. In terms of marine gas reservoirs, the Shuangyushi block continues stable production, with cumulative gas production exceeding 3.7 billion cubic meters, and the main well area of the Qixia Formation gas reservoir maintaining its role as the "ballast stone" for regional daily output.

Tight gas, meanwhile, has taken on a more explosive incremental role. The Jianyang block of the Tianfu Gas Field has built the first million-cubic-meter-level tight gas production platform in the Sichuan Basin 鈥?the 11 pilot test wells at the Yongqian 3 platform have a combined daily output of over 1 million cubic meters, and created the "Jianyang speed" of completing the entire process from scheme approval to development and commissioning in just half a year. In this process, the gas field rapidly formed an annual capacity scale of 1 billion cubic meters, transforming tight gas from a "research target" into a "main production force."

New well conversion is also accelerating: in the first half of the year, multiple new gas wells were put into operation, adding 550,000 cubic meters of daily wellhead capacity; the Wenqian 5H well ran stably within half a month of commissioning, opening a new front for large-scale tight gas reserve growth. The intersection of marine expansion, tight gas production increase, and rapid new well commissioning together supports the historic leap of daily production exceeding 5 million cubic meters.

Technology Empowerment: "Two Fronts" Strengthening the Safety Foundation

Technology here is not just icing on the cake 鈥?it directly acts as a hard constraint on production continuity and the safety bottom line. Addressing the long-term dependence on imports for the core control system of natural gas purification, the gas field partnered with a professional software company to develop a "domestically-produced full-process autonomous operation scheme for natural gas purification plants based on mechanistic models." After implementation at the Jiange Natural Gas Purification Plant, the fluctuation range of key controlled variables decreased by more than 30%, manual operation frequency decreased by more than 80%, and invalid alarm frequency dropped by more than 95%. The significance of this scheme goes beyond single-plant efficiency: it provides a replicable technical path for the domestic and intelligent transformation of China's process industry.

At the industrial control system level, the Zhongba Gas Field completed an autonomous and controllable pilot, becoming the first in the Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company to achieve 100% full-chain autonomous controllability of the old area's gathering and transportation industrial control system, with digital well station coverage reaching 98% and safety interlock rate in major production areas at 100%. The introduction of the Alpha 300 dredging robot, through "remote control + closed suction + real-time monitoring," shortened the operation cycle by 30%, reduced high-risk positions by 3 to 5 people, and achieved zero accidents throughout the entire process with full safety and environmental protection.

From control system autonomy to the personal safety of frontline operators, technological empowerment has simultaneously strengthened the foundation of production increase on two fronts.

Market Expansion and Green Development: Opening Up the Value Depth of Comprehensive Energy

The endpoint of reserve growth and production increase is not limited to the wellhead. The gas field is extending its capacity advantages to the market end and the green industry end. In the terminal market, the Jiange Jinjian Industrial Park gas utilization project has been put into operation, and quality projects such as Kefa Titanium and Sichuan Liangyou have landed, with enterprise-local cooperation accelerating from "intention docking" to "project lock-in."

At the same time, a "second curve" with greater long-term significance is unfolding: biomass gas and distributed photovoltaic projects have completed feasibility study reviews, small-scale wind power preliminary demonstration is steadily advancing, and the Cangxi No. 2 Natural Gas Purification Plant's wind measurement operation has precisely identified regional wind energy resources; in the first half of 2026, new energy power generation reached 2.35 million kilowatt-hours, with a completion rate of 107%. Special surveys of the carbon dioxide market in Chengdu and Meishan and the hydrogen energy market along the Chengdu-Deyang-Mianyang corridor are being carried out simultaneously, reserving directions for the coordinated layout of "natural gas + new energy."

This means that the strategic vision of the Northwest Sichuan Gas Field is extending from a single natural gas producer to a comprehensive energy supplier. Today, the "1371" advancement path of the Northwest Sichuan Gas Field is already clear: using front-loaded project work to secure capacity certainty, using the dual-track continuation of marine and tight gas to consolidate the production foundation, using domestication and intelligence to hold technological control and the safety bottom line in its own hands, and then using market and green transformation to open up value depth for a ten-billion-cubic-meter gas field. Next, the gas field will complete the substantive leap of a "ten-billion-cubic-meter gas field" under the framework of "four accelerations," "three foundations," and "four major battles."
