A total of 11 suspects were apprehended, with investigations confirming the involvement of approximately 130 kilograms of smuggled gold and gold products, valued at around 78 million yuan. The criminal group procured the gold in Shenzhen, distributed it through Guangzhou, and used individual couriers, known as "water guests," to conceal the gold on their persons and transport it on flights out of the country. The smuggled gold was ultimately sold in gold shops overseas, constituting a full-chain criminal operation. The case has now been transferred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution.
