A fire broke out in a building near Qinxian North Street in Xiaodian District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, on the evening of the 28th. The death toll has risen to three, with 23 individuals sustaining injuries, nine of whom are in serious condition. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation, while post-incident handling measures are being implemented concurrently.
According to reports, the local fire and rescue department received an alarm at 7:52 PM on the 28th and arrived at the scene by 7:57 PM. The visible flames were extinguished by 8:27 PM. Personnel remain on-site managing the situation as the investigation into the ignition source continues.
Previously, on March 10th, the official website of the Xiaodian District People's Government issued a notice regarding the declaration and filing of key fire safety units for the year 2026 within the district. The notice, aimed at strengthening the management of key fire safety units and effectively preventing fire incidents, specified a submission deadline of March 25th. It identified public gathering places such as shopping malls, hotels, stadiums, and auditoriums, as well as high-rise commercial and residential buildings, as key units for fire safety within the province.
