Kingboard Holdings Ltd (00148) shares surged over 4%, trading 4.49% higher at HK$47.9 as of press time, with a turnover of HK$1.271 billion.
According to market reports on August 14, a price hike notice from Nanya was circulated, citing substantial increases in raw material costs such as copper foil, fiberglass cloth, and resin, leading to a 20% price adjustment for substrates and base materials, effective September 1. In response, Nanya confirmed the price hike was accurate, noting that multiple adjustments have been made this year in negotiation with customers due to rising material costs. However, the document was not an official company-wide price hike notice, and Nanya did not universally or immediately raise prices by 20% across all customers.
Notably, next-generation AI chips and server platforms from tech giants like Amazon, Nvidia, and Google are set for mass production in the second half of 2026, which will further amplify demand for HVLP4 copper foil, a core substrate material. Shanxi Securities previously noted that due to high technical barriers, limited production capacity among a few manufacturers, and long expansion cycles, the supply-demand gap for high-end copper foil is expected to persist from 2026 to 2027. The brokerage believes that given the strong sustainability of this AI-driven super cycle, the industry will remain in a high-growth phase for the next 3 to 5 years, providing sustained robust demand for high-end CCL. It expects the tight CCL supply-demand situation to last until 2027 or even longer.
