ZTO Express (Cayman) Inc. released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing operational scale, environmental targets and social initiatives across its China-centred delivery network.
Operational Scale • Parcel volume reached 38.50 billion, securing industry-leading share for a 10th consecutive year. • The private-sector network now spans more than 31,000 service outlets, 93 sorting hubs, 781 automated sorting sets and over 10,000 self-owned line-haul vehicles, including around 9,700 high-capacity trailer trucks. • Network coverage exceeds 99 % of Chinese cities and counties and 96 % of townships.
Decarbonisation & Resource Efficiency • A Group-level Green Development Committee has been formed; emissions intensity (Scope 1 + Scope 2) is targeted to fall 20 % from the 2023 baseline by 2028. • Total GHG emissions for 2025 were 2.20 million tCO2e; intensity declined to 0.052 kg CO2e per parcel. • Photovoltaic projects: 60 sites with 140 MW installed capacity generated about 130 million kWh, cutting roughly 44,000 tCO2e and saving RMB 27 million in power costs. • LNG fleet exceeded 700 trucks; intelligent routing trimmed diesel use by a combined 8.60 million litres. • Green packaging: 60.19 million reusable bags in circulation, 100 % adoption of slim tape at Company-procured warehouses and 2,493 carton recycling points.
Climate Scenario Analysis • ZTO assessed transition and physical risks using IPCC SSP1-1.9, SSP5-8.5 and IEA Net Zero 2050 pathways, covering temperature rise, extreme weather, carbon pricing and market shifts. • The analysis underpins board-level oversight via the ESG Committee; climate metrics are linked to management KPIs.
Social Capital & Workforce • Total employees: 23,399; women represent 35.70 %. • 100 % coverage by trade unions at management centres; headquarters employee-satisfaction score reached 94 %. • Lost-time-injury frequency rate reduced to 1.40 per million hours worked, with eight work-related injuries reported and zero fatalities. • Training sessions totalled 1,714, averaging 16 hours per employee; 99 % of staff completed information-security training.
Responsible Supply Chain • The Company managed a portfolio of 7,309 suppliers; 100 % of “specially important” vendors underwent ESG assessments. • Integrity supervision processed 11,355 work orders and completed 31 rounds of compliance reviews.
Community & Rural Revitalisation • Coverage expanded to 395,910 village addresses (84.6 % rural reach) with 21,000 village-level service stations. • External donations totalled RMB 17.99 million, including HKD 10 million for disaster relief in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district.
Governance Enhancements • The Board comprises nine directors, including four independent non-executive directors; female representation is 22 %. • ZTO maintained ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications, while its cyber-security team reported zero data breaches during 2025.
Outlook Management will continue advancing low-carbon logistics, green packaging and digital efficiency, while monitoring climate risk, expanding renewable energy use and deepening supply-chain ESG oversight to meet the 2028 emissions-intensity commitment.
