Tesla has announced that its complimentary transfer service for the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system will conclude on March 31. According to information shared on Monday by electric vehicle analyst Sawyer Merrett on X, Tesla stated that customers must order a new vehicle by March 31 to be eligible for the free FSD transfer. Since April 2023, Tesla has offered this opportunity to customers who had previously paid for the FSD package on their old vehicle: if they plan to replace or upgrade their car, they can transfer the service to their new Tesla at no cost. Based on the details shared by Merrett, customers who opt for the free FSD transfer can take delivery of their new vehicle after March 31 and still qualify, provided they placed their order before the deadline. Last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company would discontinue the $99 monthly FSD subscription option for users after February 14, after which a one-time payment of $8,000 would be required. Tesla currently offers a subscription service for $99 per month. This move has prompted questions about the motivation behind the decision, with speculation suggesting it may be related to Musk's trillion-dollar compensation package. This package stipulates that the CEO must achieve a series of targets for Tesla, one of which includes reaching 10 million subscriptions for the FSD service.
