Game developer Polyphony Digital, known for the Gran Turismo series, has posted several new job openings, fueling industry speculation that development on the next installment has entered its initial stages, according to reports from external media on September 8.
Among the listings, a role for a "vehicle simulation programmer for the GT series" has drawn notable attention. The position's duties include "enhancing the vehicle simulation engine used in the series and recreating the unique mechanical structures of each model," suggesting the studio is urgently seeking staff to meticulously replicate a wide range of cars.
Public records show that Gran Turismo 7 launched in March 2022 and has since received continuous content updates. The developer plans to roll out a Spec IV update between October and December of this year, introducing vehicles such as the Citroen 2CV Charleston, Honda StepWGN, BMW M5 E60, and the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo crossover electric supercar.
