The Fujian Provincial People's Government has recently issued the "Fujian Province '15th Five-Year Plan' for Emerging and Future Industries," which outlines a strategic focus on four key sectors to leverage the province's global leadership in lithium battery manufacturing and its abundant energy resources.
These sectors are new energy storage, new energy vehicles (NEVs) and parts, offshore wind power, and advanced nuclear power. The plan aims to promote shared technology research, collaborative scenario-building, and ecosystem integration, fostering a highly coordinated industrial innovation ecosystem that links power sources, grids, loads, and storage to build a world-class new energy industry cluster.
In the new energy storage sector, the focus is on lithium-ion battery storage as the core technology, while diversifying into sodium-ion battery storage, flow batteries, and compressed air energy storage. The goal is to build a complete industrial chain covering key materials, specialized cells, system integration, and recycling.
For NEVs and parts, the plan is to develop a vehicle-road-cloud integrated ecosystem and establish Fujian as a major manufacturing and export base for new energy vehicles in Southeast China.
In offshore wind power, efforts will be directed at enhancing the supporting capabilities of equipment manufacturing and services, creating a province-wide network for offshore wind power operation and maintenance.
Regarding advanced nuclear power, the province will explore diversified applications, such as industrial steam supply, and build a clean energy system that integrates wind, solar, nuclear, and storage for multi-energy complementarity.
