Ensuring Safety is the Top Priority: DiDi Releases Holiday Travel Advisory

Deep News04-29 15:51

As the holiday period approaches, road traffic volume is expected to be high, with variable weather and complex driving conditions. Areas around tourist attractions and commercial districts will see dense flows of vehicles and pedestrians, while risks associated with long-distance driving, nighttime travel, and riding after alcohol consumption are set to increase significantly. Under the guidance of relevant authorities, DiDi has fully activated its holiday safety assurance operations, conducting preemptive risk assessments, organizing emergency drills, and upgrading its AI safety models to ensure travel order and the safety of both drivers and passengers.

With a rise in ride-hailing demand during the holiday, DiDi has set up dedicated pickup stations at airports and train stations in multiple cities across the country, allowing users to board more quickly. To identify risks earlier and more accurately, DiDi has developed and continues to enhance its AI safety model platform, building on years of accumulated safety expertise. By leveraging a multimodal risk assessment model that integrates natural language processing, abnormal order analysis, and real-time trip monitoring, the platform efficiently screens for potential safety hazards among vast numbers of orders, flagging them for further review by safety specialists.

For trips confirmed as high-risk, the platform promptly initiates measures such as remote calls, safety warnings, and emergency alerts to prevent escalation. Orders deemed low-risk by safety experts continue to be monitored by AI for further evaluation. This collaborative approach between AI and human experts ensures that potential risks are not overlooked while improving efficiency, allowing experienced safety personnel to oversee more orders.

DiDi's safety AI model is also capable of intelligently identifying various risk scenarios, including distracted driving, fatigue, and speeding. Through outbound calls and in-car device alerts, drivers are reminded and advised in real time to minimize the likelihood of accidents. Given the demanding nature of holiday driving, DiDi urges drivers to prioritize safety by staying focused, avoiding fatigue and distractions, and adhering to mandatory rest periods. When passing through crowded areas or pedestrian crossings, drivers are encouraged to slow down and yield to pedestrians.

In recognition of drivers working during the holiday and to help passengers secure rides more easily, DiDi will distribute nearly 4 billion yuan in driver subsidies, offering incentives such as commission-free cards, earnings boost cards, and completion bonuses. Additionally, the platform will trial peak-hour service fees in certain cities during high-demand periods, allowing drivers to earn more.

As a comprehensive mobility platform, DiDi continues to expand its service offerings while enhancing safety measures tailored to various scenarios. While the vast majority of the millions of daily trips proceed without incident, the greatest challenge in safety work lies not in known risks but in hidden hazards beneath the surface. DiDi is committed to investing in and advancing its intelligent safety governance system to not only provide real-time warnings but also uncover deeper risks.

However, ensuring safety cannot be achieved by the platform alone. Challenges such as insufficient information, difficulty in risk identification, and real-time intervention persist. Therefore, DiDi encourages every user to participate in safety efforts. Parents are advised to use ride-booking features appropriately and avoid allowing minors to travel alone, while all users are urged to reject off-platform transactions, protect their privacy, and avoid sharing personal contact information. Passengers traveling under the influence can proactively report their condition to enable closer monitoring, and the "Trip Sharing" feature can provide peace of mind for families. Female passengers can also opt for the "Women-Friendly Ride" service, which prioritizes matching with female drivers, while accessible travel and pet-friendly options are also available.

Safety remains the most important aspect of any journey. Wishing everyone a joyful holiday and safe travels.
