Shares of Z.AI (02513) jumped more than 8% in early Hong Kong trading, climbing 8.25% to HK$1,115 with turnover reaching HK$163 million. The rally follows the company's announcement on August 26 that it had launched and open-sourced GLM-5.3-Flash (320B-A18B), marking the first native multimodal model in the GLM-5 series.

The new model is priced at one-tenth of GLM-5.3, with a limited-time discount bringing it to one-twentieth of that flagship's cost, and just one-fortieth of Opus 4.8. Prior to the official release, GLM-5.3-Flash underwent large-scale testing under the anonymous codename Ox-Alpha, known as "Niu Lai" in Chinese tech circles, on the OpenCode and OpenRouter platforms, setting new records for call volumes on both. Notably, all of this test traffic was powered by domestic Chinese chips.

According to internal evaluations at Z.AI, GLM-5.3-Flash achieved an Artificial Analysis Intelligence score of 57 points. This result surpasses the previous generation flagship GLM-5.2, matches Claude Opus 4.8, and exceeds DeepSeek's flagship V4 Pro official version score of 53 points.
