Robin Li Proposes Daily Active Agents as the New Benchmark for the AI Era

Deep News05-13

At the Create 2026 Baidu AI Developer Conference held today, Baidu founder Robin Li proposed that the key metric for the AI era could be "Daily Active Agents" (DAA), which corresponds to the most common metric in the mobile internet era, "Daily Active Users" (DAU).

Robin Li stated that the current metric closer to industry consensus is Token consumption. However, Tokens do not necessarily represent the final outcome; they represent cost, not revenue. They measure input, not output. "As humanity enters the era of intelligent agents, measuring the prosperity of a platform and its ecosystem should focus more on the DAA metric—how many agents are working for humans and delivering results. This is closer to value and essence than meaningless Token consumption."
