South Korea's Finance Ministry stated that although volatility triggered by external factors has intensified, the fundamentals of the country's domestic economy and stock market remain solid.
The ministry said on Friday that US Treasury yields, the business conditions of the artificial intelligence and semiconductor industries, and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are exacerbating market volatility and uncertainty.
The ministry pointed out that this year's economic growth is expected to be around 3%, and the large scale of the current account surplus demonstrates South Korea's resilience.
The ministry stated that the government and financial regulatory authorities are closely monitoring financial markets and will take severe measures against any behavior that disrupts the market.
