The market today felt like a burning sensation in the chest, perfectly described by the hottest internet meme of the moment. Let us review the market situation together.
On October 14, the market experienced a full-day volatile correction, with both the ChiNext and STAR indexes dropping over 3%. By the close, the Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.88%, the Shenzhen Component Index dropped 1.97%, and the ChiNext Index tumbled 3.1%. A total of 979 stocks rose, 39 hit the daily limit up, and 4,496 stocks declined.
AI comic drama concept stocks continued their upward trend, with Ciwen Media and New Classic hitting their fourth consecutive limit up, while Zhangyue Technology, Gravity Media, and many others also hit the daily limit up. The coal sector rallied, with Antai Group achieving its third limit up in five days, and Zhengzhou Coal and Electric hitting the limit up.
On the decline side, the wind power equipment sector adjusted downward, with Dajin Heavy Industry hitting the limit down and Xinqianglian dropping over 10%. The semiconductor sector led the declines.
Why did the market drop sharply today? First, part of the reason is the lack of capital support, as the stock ETF market saw net inflows exceeding 10 billion yuan yesterday. Among them, the ChiNext ETF from E Fund saw net inflows of 2.18 billion yuan, making it the only stock ETF in the entire market with net inflows exceeding 2 billion yuan. Additionally, the CSI 300 ETF from Huatai-PineBridge and the STAR 50 ETF from China AMC both saw net inflows exceeding 1 billion yuan. The STAR Semiconductor ETF from China AMC was the only industry ETF among the top ten stock ETFs by net inflows. However, today's market reaction shows no sustained inflows, resulting in less capital support.
Second, this afternoon, lithography giant ASML released its latest financial report, causing its stock price to plunge and triggering collective declines in global markets. Dramatically, just after the A-share market closed, ASML's stock price had already rebounded in a deep "V" shape.
Third, tonight at 8:30 PM US time, the US will release September CPI data, and A-shares may be hedging risks in advance. Finally, I really cannot find any other reasons, but I hope the market will improve tomorrow! Let us all cheer together!
