Iraq Halts Crude Loading at Basrah Terminal After Drone Attack on Tanker

Deep News07-16 18:32

Iraq has suspended crude oil loading operations at its Basrah export terminal in the Persian Gulf following a drone attack on a tanker, according to informed sources.

The sources indicated the tanker was in the process of loading 1 million barrels of crude when it came under attack. This incident follows a recent U.S. military strike on a supertanker in the deeper waters of the Persian Gulf.

Since the breakdown of the interim peace agreement between the United States and Iran, Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) – the primary vessel type for exporting crude oil from the Persian Gulf – have been subjected to a series of attacks.
