May Day Holiday Approaches: Cyber Police Illustrate Prevention Strategies Through Real Cases

Deep News04-29

As the May Day holiday approaches, cyber police are using real cases to demonstrate the importance of early prevention and safeguarding cybersecurity. Case 2 involves a travel shopping phishing scam: A citizen, Ms. Zhang, wanted to book a homestay near a scenic area and searched for low-priced listings in a social media group. The seller sent her a private link directly. After clicking, the page appeared to be a legitimate booking platform. However, after completing the payment, Ms. Zhang was blocked by the seller. The platform's customer service confirmed that they had never published such listings. Case 3 describes a part-time job scam involving fake reviews and rebates: During the holiday, Ms. Wang, who was staying home, saw a post in her social feed promoting "May Day part-time work, earn 300+ daily easily" through writing fake reviews. Initially, small rebates were deposited into her account as bait. Subsequently, the scammer persuaded her to make multiple transfers under the guise of "combined tasks" and "account upgrades," resulting in total losses exceeding 50,000 yuan. Case 4 outlines an impersonated express delivery refund scam: Ms. Zhao received a call claiming that a specialty food package she had purchased online during the holiday was lost and that she was eligible for a full refund. She was asked to add a customer service account on a messaging app, download an unfamiliar application, and enable screen sharing. Shortly after, all funds in her account were transferred. Cyber police have shared these cases to warn the public. The objective is to remind everyone to contact official customer service immediately to verify any suspicious situation or call 110 directly to report it.
