Barclays analysts say market participants now broadly expect Tesla to merge with SpaceX, and news of the deal could be announced before Tesla's annual general meeting (AGM).
Analysts including Dan Levy expect the 2026 annual general meeting to be held no later than December 6.
Levy added that the rationale for the merger would be vertical integration and the ability to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) opportunities across Elon Musk's two companies.
"While the announcement of a Tesla/SpaceX merger could slip to later in October, or even into early November, we believe it may become increasingly difficult to get the deal approved at the annual general meeting by then."
