Liquor Price Index March 6 Update: Xijiu Junpin Records Modest Increase of 1 Yuan per Bottle

Deep News09:30

Data collected over the past 24 hours by the Liquor Price Index indicates that the average retail prices of twelve major Chinese baijiu products showed mixed fluctuations on March 6. If one bottle of each of the twelve products were bundled for sale, the total price today would be 10,610 yuan, a decrease of 9 yuan from the previous day. The monitoring scope of the index was recently expanded to include twelve major products, with the addition of Moutai 1935 and Wuliangye 1618, further enriching the price structure.

Among the twelve major baijiu products today, seven declined, four advanced, and one remained unchanged. On the upside, Gujing Gongjiu Gu 20 led the gains, rising by 4 yuan per bottle, continuing its modest recovery trend. Wuliangye普五八代 increased by 3 yuan per bottle, with its quoted price returning above 810 yuan. Xijiu Junpin and Crystal Jiannanchun both saw slight increases of 1 yuan per bottle, maintaining a narrow trading range overall. On the downside, Gujiao 1573 experienced the largest decline, dropping by 7 yuan per bottle, indicating a downward shift in its price level. Feitian Moutai and Moutai 1935 both fell by 3 yuan per bottle, showing slight price softening in distribution channels. Qinghualang declined by 2 yuan per bottle, while Premium Moutai, Qinghua Fen 20, and Yanghe Dream Blue M6+ each edged down by 1 yuan per bottle. Wuliangye 1618 remained unchanged from the previous day, with its market quote holding steady.

The daily data for the Liquor Price Index is sourced from approximately 200 collection points reasonably distributed across major regions nationwide. These points include, but are not limited to, designated distributors of liquor companies, independent distributors, e-commerce platforms, and retail outlets. The raw sample data consists of actual transaction-based retail prices recorded at each point over the past 24 hours, aiming to provide objective, authentic, scientific, and fully traceable data on the market prices of well-known baijiu products. Since the official iMoutai platform began selling Feitian Moutai at 1,499 yuan per bottle around New Year's Day and Premium Moutai at 2,299 yuan per bottle starting January 9, the influence of this new sales channel on the average retail prices of these two products has gradually become apparent. The daily prices published by the Liquor Price Index are calculated based on rules that weight actual transaction volumes. The calculation of the retail prices for Feitian Moutai and Premium Moutai has progressively incorporated verifiable transaction-based prices.

In other significant baijiu industry news, a report from第三方 on the 4th indicated that latest data shows Xijiu's revenue for 2025 fell to approximately 19 billion yuan, dropping it out of the industry's 20-billion-yuan revenue club. This represents the weakest performance for Xijiu since its independent operation began in 2022. This trend reflects the deep adjustment phase within the baijiu industry, characterized by a shift from rapid expansion to significant contraction. It also highlights sector-specific challenges, such as high inventory levels and price inversions resulting from earlier capital influx and disorderly capacity expansion in the sauce-aroma baijiu segment. The collapse of the price system for Xijiu's core products has triggered a vicious cycle in its channel ecosystem. Compounded by inherent weaknesses including an ambiguous brand positioning, a singular product structure, and ineffective channel control, the situation not only demonstrates the actual market performance of the company's operations but also reflects the practical market challenges it faces during its independent development phase. Xijiu's difficulties serve as a typical example of the bursting bubble and subsequent return to rationality within the sauce-aroma baijiu sector.
