Privacy-focused consumer technology company DuckDuckGo launched a subscription service last year that bundled virtual private network (VPN) services, personal information removal, and identity theft repair services. The company announced on Thursday that subscribers can now access advanced artificial intelligence models through Duck.ai at no additional cost.
The Duck.ai chatbot is available for free, allowing users to access multiple models including Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Haiku, Meta's Llama 4 Scout, Mistral AI's Mistral Small 3 24B, and OpenAI's GPT-4o mini.
Through DuckDuckGo's $9.99 monthly subscription plan, users will gain access to more advanced models, including OpenAI's GPT-4o and GPT-5, Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4, and Meta's Llama Maverick.
The company stated in a blog post: "These larger models excel at following detailed instructions, maintaining contextual coherence through extended conversations, and generating more in-depth, nuanced responses. DuckDuckGo's subscription plan provides access to some of these models while offering users enhanced privacy protection."
This presents an appealing option for users seeking access to the latest AI models without being confined to a single service provider. Additionally, Quora's Poe platform also offers access to multiple models, with subscription plans starting at $5 per month.
DuckDuckGo indicated it will continue adding more expensive subscription tiers to its paid offerings, which will provide access to "larger, more advanced models." However, the company has not specified whether usage limits apply to the current subscription plan.
