WANGUO GOLD GP (03939) announced that an arson incident occurred on January 20, 2026, at the mine site operated by its subsidiary, Gold Ridge Mining Limited (GRML), a company incorporated in the Solomon Islands. GRML holds the mining and exploration licenses for the Gold Ridge Project, which involves the development and operation of a gold mine on Guadalcanal, the central island of the Solomon Islands, located approximately 30 kilometers southeast of the capital, Honiara. At around 22:00 (Solomon Islands time) on January 20, 2026, a group of unidentified individuals trespassed into the Gold Ridge Mine's open-pit area and vandalized GRML's machinery and equipment. More than ten pieces of equipment sustained varying degrees of damage during the incident. No personnel injuries were reported. Recently, the Solomon Islands government has intensified management of the mining area, deciding to clamp down on illegal gold panning and ordering illegal miners to vacate the site. GRML has been working closely in recent months with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and surrounding landowners to jointly manage illegal mining activities within the mining lease area. Following last night's event, GRML is again cooperating fully with RSIPF officers and local landowner chiefs to investigate the root cause of the incident and identify those responsible. At this stage, there is no immediate safety risk to personnel or the surrounding communities. The Group will continue to monitor the situation closely, further strengthening security measures at the mine site to ensure the safety of personnel and assets. Concurrently, the company will maintain close communication with the Solomon Islands government to facilitate a proper resolution of the matter and ensure the project's normal operations continue. Currently, production operations at the Gold Ridge Mine in the Solomon Islands are proceeding normally.
