On August 31, the National Press and Publication Administration publicly announced the gaming license approvals for August 2026, granting licenses to 209 domestic online games and 6 imported online games.
Among the approved titles, Hope: Setting Sail, published by Shanghai Kingnet Network Technology Co., Ltd. and operated by Shanghai Yueteng Network Technology Co., Ltd., successfully obtained its license. This new release is an adaptation of the classic PC game Hope OL, originally developed by South Korea's PLAYWITH in 2003. As one of the pioneering fully 3D cartoon-rendered MMORPGs, it won the Korean Game President's Award shortly after its launch.
Over two decades of development, the franchise has garnered a global fanbase. The game builds the fairy-tale-like continent of Shilt, featuring a highly recognizable art style with humorous and adorable characters. Its signature combo system, driven by keyboard key combinations, delivers an impactful combat experience. With diverse class systems, pet nurturing, and couple social features, the low entry barrier made it a gateway to online gaming for many domestic players.
