Right after the National Day holiday, 10 mobile charging devices from Jiangsu Jingchong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereafter "Jingchong") set off from the Lishui Dongping Industrial Park, heading to the Netherlands thousands of miles away. This marks the first batch delivery following the signing of a multi-million yuan order between Jingchong and a local Dutch new energy operator.
Just 10 days earlier, Vincent, the head of this Dutch operator, along with Chief Technology Officer Bas, visited Nanjing for an inspection. They signed an order worth 10 million yuan with Jingchong on the spot and offered heartfelt praise: "Nice Nanjing!"
The collaboration between the two parties began in June 2024 in Munich, Germany, at Power2Drive Europe (P2D), a top global event for new energy mobility. As a national high-tech enterprise engaged in the research, development, production, operation, and data services of new energy vehicle charging equipment, Jingchong has achieved full-chain independent control from power semiconductors and power module manufacturing to charging pile system operations. Following the wave of Chinese new energy vehicles going global, Jingchong has accelerated its overseas expansion, with overseas business accounting for 60% of its total revenue. This exhibition was its first stop in exploring the European market.
"We were also looking for Chinese suppliers at the time, and Jingchong's products and philosophy happened to match our needs," Vincent said in an interview. After personally visiting Nanjing for an on-site inspection, he decided to first purchase a batch of Jingchong's mobile charging devices. Although this order was worth only over 200,000 yuan, Jingchong still attached great importance to it. To serve overseas customers well, Jingchong quickly assembled a local operations and maintenance team and established a remote diagnosis and rapid response mechanism. Whenever Dutch customers encountered any issues while using the products, the company's technical team could diagnose and handle them initially through remote tools, and when necessary, coordinate with local partners and maintenance personnel for on-site support. The superior after-sales service laid a solid foundation for the cooperation between the two parties.
However, what truly impressed Vincent was the order for two DC charging piles with a total price of about 1 million yuan that he signed during his second visit to Nanjing last year. These were purchased by a farm in a small Dutch seaside town for its new energy heavy trucks. To better complete the delivery, Jingchong's R&D team made multiple trips to Europe to investigate application scenarios and user usage. After nearly half a year of targeted research and development, and in response to the customer's requirements for high power and salt spray operating environments, they successfully customized a 480kW independent air duct DC charging pile, which can fully charge a large heavy truck with a 500 kWh battery within one hour. "On the basis of ensuring product quality, we further optimized the product design to precisely match local needs," introduced Yu Junhua, Deputy General Manager of Jingchong. From research, product design, prototyping, testing, optimization, to shipping, the company invested 30 million yuan, which is dozens of times the order amount. "It looks like a loss-making business, but what we value is the European market behind the Netherlands," Yu Junhua said. The public charging pile gap in the European market is about 300,000 to 400,000 units, offering ample market space. The Netherlands is one of the countries with the densest charging networks in Europe and one of the fastest-growing markets for electric heavy trucks. The company uses the Netherlands as a fulcrum to expand into the European market, gradually turning "Dutch experience" into "European solutions."
Facts have proven that their efforts were not in vain. In April this year, after the first 480kW independent air duct DC charging pile was put into use, it appeared on the front page of the Netherlands' mainstream national newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, hailed as the local "fastest charging station," which greatly enhanced Jingchong's influence in the local market. Since the beginning of this year, Jingchong has also launched mobile energy storage charging, liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging, and other new products tailored to the needs of the European market, addressing the demands for grid renovation in old European urban areas and emergency energy replenishment. At the end of last month, Vincent visited Jingchong for the third time. He was very excited to see these new products. "These devices meet European needs, especially the integrated mobile energy storage and charging equipment, which can overcome the limitations on charging power caused by unstable European power grids," he said. He noted that every time he visits Nanjing, he sees Jingchong developing new technologies and new products, which gives him more confidence in the cooperation between the two parties. Therefore, he decisively secured the exclusive agency rights for Jingchong in the Netherlands.
Vincent and Bas were in a hurry and stayed in Nanjing for only 3 days before returning to the Netherlands. Before leaving, Bas, who had studied in China for 8 years, remarked with emotion: "China's new energy vehicle industry leads the world and possesses first-class engineers and designers. If you want high-quality products, you have to come to China!" From an initial order of over 200,000 yuan to today's multi-million yuan deal, Nanjing-based Jingchong took 3 years to win the trust of European customers and opened the European market with technology, quality, and localized services. From October 6 to 8, Jingchong showcased its full range of products at the Dutch National Energy Week exhibition, and its pace of expanding into the European market is accelerating at full speed.
