American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. (AXL) stock surged 5.02% during intraday trading on Friday, following the release of its third-quarter 2025 financial results that exceeded analyst expectations and a positive outlook for the full year.

The automotive supplier reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.16 for Q3, surpassing the FactSet consensus estimate of $0.12. While this represents a decrease from $0.20 per share in the same period last year, it demonstrates the company's ability to outperform market expectations in a challenging environment. Sales for the quarter reached $1.51 billion, meeting analyst projections and showing a slight increase from the previous year.

Investors were particularly encouraged by American Axle's strong operational performance, as evidenced by its adjusted EBITDA of $194.7 million, which significantly beat the IBES estimate of $180.7 million. The company attributed this year-over-year margin growth to ongoing performance improvements across its operations.

Adding to the positive sentiment, American Axle provided an optimistic outlook for the full year 2025. The company is targeting annual sales between $5.8 billion and $5.9 billion, in line with current market expectations. Additionally, it forecasts adjusted EBITDA between $710 million and $745 million, and adjusted free cash flow between $180 million and $210 million for the year.

David C. Dauch, American Axle's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, expressed satisfaction with the results, stating, "AAM's third quarter of 2025 demonstrates strong year-over-year margin growth driven by our performance improvements." He also highlighted the progress made in the company's previously announced combination with Dowlais, which is expected to enhance its global presence and create additional value for shareholders.

The market's positive reaction to American Axle's earnings report reflects growing confidence in the company's ability to navigate industry challenges and capitalize on opportunities in the evolving automotive sector. As the company continues to focus on operational efficiency and strategic growth initiatives, investors appear optimistic about its future prospects in the competitive auto parts manufacturing landscape.
