At the opening ceremony of the 2026 Yabuli Forum Annual Meeting, Yu Minhong, Chairman of New Oriental Education & Technology Group, delivered the opening speech. He stated that he has likely been exposed more frequently online than any other entrepreneur present—whether through positive news, negative coverage, or severe online harassment.

Yu Minhong shared that one of his key realizations is that no matter what one does, it is essential to do the right thing. He outlined two criteria for determining what is right: first, the intention behind the action must be correct, meaning the purpose one aims to achieve is proper; second, the business model must be sound. As long as it is a company, it must have a viable business model, though some models may be more indirect while others are more straightforward.

He also emphasized that during the process, one should not be swayed by short-term company fluctuations or difficulties. "Frankly speaking, if I had been overly affected by all kinds of external opinions over the past three or four years, if I had paid too much attention to them, I might not have survived until today—and New Oriental's online selection platform might not have survived either," he said. "Excessive focus on public opinion can impact your emotions, mindset, confidence, and strategic planning."
