Gree Electric Defends "Genuine Copper" as Its Original Quality Standard

Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai has issued a statement regarding an online dispute with Hisense Air Conditioning over the phrase "genuine copper." The company clarified that "genuine copper" represents a clear standard and an original proposition put forward by Gree based on its commitment to product quality. Gree noted that Hisense has used this phrasing in its promotions while also launching the slogan "Good Air, Made by Hisense," which bears a strong resemblance to Gree's classic tagline "Good Air Conditioner, Made by Gree."

Gree explained that the models mentioned online as using aluminum-wire motors were specific, small-batch commercial units—specifically 5-horsepower commercial ducted units and 5-horsepower ceiling cassettes for shop projects. These products were tailored for specialized engineering applications and were not intended for general household retail consumers. Gree emphasized that such models have long been completely discontinued, and all residential and commercial air conditioners currently sold by Gree in the domestic market adhere to the "genuine copper" standard, maintaining consistent quality.

The company further stated that it enforces uniformly strict standards for all household retail air conditioners sold through domestic channels. All residential models feature genuine copper in both heat exchangers and key components, with motors using 100% copper wiring—never substituting aluminum for copper or compromising on quality through cost-cutting. Gree's quality commitment to consumers is publicly verifiable and remains unchanged.

Gree advocates for the industry to return to the essence of product quality, focusing on transparency in the materials used for end-consumer products. The company calls for public disclosure of the materials used in four core components—the condenser, evaporator, compressor, and motor—to collectively uphold quality standards and protect consumers' legitimate rights and interests.
