A public training session titled "High-Speed Communication Principles and Testing Technologies" was recently held at the Jimei Testing Base by the Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute, with the goal of strengthening the technical foundation for high-speed signal R&D testing in sectors such as intelligent connected vehicles, communication equipment, and consumer electronics, while also enhancing the professional capabilities of the institute's own inspection staff.
Technical professionals from companies including Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd., Xiamen Yaxun Zhilian Technology Co., Ltd., and Zhangzhou Malata Co., Ltd., along with frontline testing engineers from the institute, participated in this complimentary public training.
Industries like intelligent connected vehicles, smart manufacturing, communication equipment, and consumer electronics are rapidly advancing toward high-speed communication upgrades, with technologies such as gigabit and 10-gigabit high-speed Ethernet and SerDes becoming widely adopted. Oscilloscopes and vector network analyzers, as core precision instruments for high-speed signal and RF parameter testing, handle critical tasks including high-speed signal integrity analysis, S-parameter characterization, TDR time-domain impedance testing, and frequency-domain reflection and crosstalk analysis, making them indispensable tools for R&D validation and quality control in electronic products.
Leveraging the full suite of high-end precision testing equipment at the Jimei base—including a 13GHz oscilloscope and a 9GHz vector network analyzer—the training adopted an integrated "theory plus hands-on practice" model for a full day of systematic instruction. In the morning, technical experts delivered theoretical lectures on automotive Ethernet and SerDes protocol communication principles, industry trends, and the foundational principles and application scenarios of oscilloscopes and vector network analyzers. The afternoon focused on practical training covering vector network analyzer S-parameter and TDR testing, oscilloscope operation, and specialized automotive Ethernet and SerDes tests, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of high-speed signal theory and testing methods through direct hands-on experience.
The participating companies—such as King Long, Yaxun Zhilian, and Zhangzhou Malata—span key tracks including intelligent connected vehicles, the Internet of Vehicles, and consumer electronics, all of which have urgent engineering needs in high-speed communication R&D and testing. The curriculum was tailored to address these R&D pain points, focusing on real-world business scenarios like automotive Ethernet, SerDes high-speed interfaces, and consumer electronics high-speed signal testing. This approach established a technology transfer pathway from high-end instruments and cutting-edge testing methods to enterprise engineering applications, delivering public technical services directly to the industry frontlines.
Trainees noted that the course closely aligned with their daily R&D work, with theoretical instruction and hands-on exercises complementing each other, offering strong practical guidance for conducting high-speed signal R&D testing.
Moving forward, the Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute plans to fully utilize the platform advantages of the Fujian Provincial Intelligent Connected Vehicle Quality Inspection Center, focusing on frontier technical fields such as intelligent connectivity, high-speed communication, electromagnetic compatibility, and satellite positioning. The institute will continue to regularly organize public technical training and exchange activities, providing high-quality technical support and testing services to local enterprises, thereby supporting the high-quality development of the electronic information industry in areas like intelligent connected vehicles, smart manufacturing, communication equipment, and consumer electronics.
