Xiao Yuanqi, Deputy Director of China's National Financial Regulatory Administration, said today at the Fifth International Financial Leaders Investment Summit hosted by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority: "A large amount of capital has flowed into the technology sector and leading enterprises, pushing up leverage levels in these areas and potentially leading to excessive expansion. Excessive concentration of capital has a crowding-out effect on traditional industries... raising borrowing costs for these enterprises, increasing their financial burden, weakening their ability to reinvest and expand production, and also increasing credit risks."
Xiao Yuanqi believes that policymakers should proactively develop corresponding policy frameworks targeting the AI-driven economic transformation, in order to strengthen macroeconomic management and guard against economic and financial risks.
