Legendary Fund Manager Druckenmiller Invests in Crypto Derivatives Platform TradeXYZ, Related Public Company Shares Surge 23% in a Single Day

Deep News10-30

Legendary hedge fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller announced an investment in crypto derivatives developer TradeXYZ, landing on the same day as a major partnership announcement with ICE (Intercontinental Exchange), sparking a strong market reaction. Shares of Hyperliquid Strategies Inc (PURR), the publicly traded company most closely tied to the Hyperliquid ecosystem, soared more than 23% in a single day to hit a three-week high, while options volume exploded to more than six times the 30-day average.

Druckenmiller posted on social platform X that he was "happy to be an investor in trade(xyz)" and said he "looks forward to using its innovative products to enhance the investment decision-making process." According to a CNBC report on October 29, his representatives subsequently confirmed the statement to the Financial Times. At the same time, TradeXYZ announced a partnership with ICE, with both parties seeking regulatory approval to bring the popular perpetual futures products on the Hyperliquid exchange into the U.S. market.

Following the news, the options market reacted swiftly. PURR's single-day options volume exceeded 111,000 contracts, with bullish sentiment clearly dominant: call options volume reached about 86,000 contracts, while put options were fewer than 27,000 contracts, with buyer-initiated calls roughly four times the number of puts.

Druckenmiller's Appearance Instantly Ignites Market Sentiment

According to CNBC, Druckenmiller's post "appeared almost out of nowhere" — his X account typically posts very little, and this sudden statement caused a major stir on social media.

Druckenmiller is world-renowned for shorting the British pound in the 1990s, which left the Bank of England humiliated, and his long-term annualized returns have left Wall Street peers far behind. The endorsement from this legendary investor has given TradeXYZ and the entire Hyperliquid ecosystem extremely high market credibility.

TradeXYZ is the primary developer of the perpetual futures ("perps") market on the Hyperliquid exchange. Perpetual futures are derivative contracts with no expiration date that are extremely popular in crypto markets, but had previously not received regulatory permission in the United States.

PURR is currently the most closely linked tradable listed vehicle to the Hyperliquid ecosystem on the market, and investors view it as the most direct beneficiary of this news.

Cboe LiveVol data shows that PURR's options volume that day exceeded 111,000 contracts, more than six times the 30-day average. Of that, call options were about 86,000 contracts and put options fewer than 27,000 contracts; among buyer-initiated trades, calls were roughly four times the number of puts. Among the top ten trades by volume, only one involved buying puts.

Looking at the most active strategies, the two largest by volume were: selling $13-strike put options expiring December 18, and buying $13-strike call options expiring November 6. Together they form a classic "risk reversal" strategy — a short-term bet that the stock price will continue to rise, while expressing longer-term confidence that the stock will not fall below $13 before year-end.

Hyperliquid Strategies Inc (PURR) is a publicly traded company focused on investing in the HYPE crypto token, which is the native token powering the Hyperliquid exchange. As the core developer of the exchange's perpetual futures market, TradeXYZ's partnership with ICE and Druckenmiller's equity investment directly raised market expectations for the commercial prospects of the entire Hyperliquid ecosystem.

Hyperliquid Strategies CEO David Schamis characterized ICE's involvement as a landmark moment in the convergence of traditional finance and decentralized finance, arguing that it will accelerate the mainstreaming of perpetual futures as an asset class within a regulated framework.

ICE Partnership Opens the Way as Perpetual Futures Seek Regulatory Landing

The partnership between TradeXYZ and ICE is one of the core drivers of the news. The two parties announced that they are jointly seeking regulatory approval with the goal of formally bringing Hyperliquid's perpetual futures products into the U.S. market and achieving compliant operations.

Hyperliquid Strategies CEO David Schamis said in a statement:

"We are very excited to see ICE partner with Trade.XYZ to bring Hyperliquid's market and liquidity to U.S. investors. ICE is a cornerstone of traditional finance and an ideal partner."

Schamis added that the partnership highlights strong market demand for perpetual futures trading and marks an important step toward compliant trading for the asset class.

Notably, according to CNBC, in August of this year President Trump said regulators were pushing to bring the Hyperliquid exchange into the United States, and this partnership announcement echoes that policy signal.
