Analysis of Health Trends in China's Freshly Brewed Beverage Market Towards 2026

Deep News06-16

On June 16th, the "Coffee Health Science Popularization Initiative" was launched in Beijing, with participation from the Nutrition Literacy Branch of the Chinese Health Education Association and the Luckin Coffee Health Innovation Base established in collaboration with Peking University Health Science Center.

The event saw the release of the "Analysis Report on Health Trends in China's Freshly Brewed Beverage Market Towards 2026," which systematically outlines four major trends and three practical implementation pathways for the "healthification" transformation of freshly made beverages.

Complementing the science outreach effort, the Luckin Coffee Health Innovation Base also issued the "Coffee + Healthy Lifestyle Scientific Pairing Guide." This handbook addresses several common health concerns among the public, offering scientific facts and dietary pairing recommendations.

The report indicates that over 63% of surveyed consumers find freshly prepared beverages "excessively sweet." Furthermore, when a brand introduces flavored drinks with "low sugar, 0 fat, low calorie" attributes, more than 62% of users express a strong willingness to purchase.

Based on this, the report distills four key trends for the "healthification" shift in the freshly made beverage sector: in terms of ingredients, a return to clean-label, original formulas through "addition and subtraction"; in consumption scenarios, beverages becoming "health companions" that precisely fit different lifestyles; in target demographics, meeting the segmented, nuanced needs of younger consumers with "default healthy" options; and in value proposition, making health a differentiating factor that can be translated into commercial returns.

Public information shows that Luckin Coffee Inc. partnered with the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Peking University Health Science Center in 2024 to establish the "Luckin Coffee Health Innovation Base." In 2025, the base further established a "Scientific Research and Practice Center" at Luckin's fresh fruit processing plant in Baoshan. The base is committed to systematically reviewing the latest global evidence annually, continuously publishing research reports on coffee and health, and persistently addressing public misconceptions.
