Guangdong Province is set to significantly enhance its backing for the widespread adoption and commercial use of new technologies, including artificial intelligence.
This announcement was made during the province's first-half economic analysis meeting and a provincial committee meeting on July 22nd in Guangzhou, chaired by the provincial party secretary, who emphasized the need to secure the annual economic targets.
The meeting underscored a dual strategy to expand markets both domestically and internationally. This involves refining consumption policies, stabilizing goods consumption, and boosting service consumption, with a focus on developing new growth areas such as event and exhibition economies.
Efforts will continue to solidify traditional markets like Europe and the US while actively securing emerging markets, leveraging Hong Kong's role as a platform to strengthen regional trade.
On the industrial front, the province will pursue a balanced approach between new and traditional sectors. The primary focus will be on new-type mechatronics, with systematic research targeting critical areas like new materials and core components.
A key directive is to provide stronger support for scaling and commercializing new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, aiming to establish new, high-tech, high-growth, and large-scale industrial pillars.
Traditional industries will be upgraded through industrial technological upgrades, digital transformation, and large-scale equipment renewal, while modern service industries will be vigorously developed to promote a coordinated advancement across all sectors to a higher level.
