Key Market Drivers
The positive sentiment is fueled by a major technological breakthrough in the fiber optic sector. The world's first commercial S+C+L three-band (short, conventional, and long band) ultra-low loss multi-core fiber optic cable line has been officially launched in Qingdao, Shandong. Traditional optical fibers face clear bandwidth and capacity bottlenecks due to limitations in the number of cores and available bandwidth. The new cable achieves "three-band parallel transmission," akin to widening an information highway from two lanes to three. This increases single-core bandwidth by nearly 50% and boosts the capacity of a single fiber to more than five times that of traditional fibers, which can fully meet future demands for AI computing and terabit-level ultra-high-speed transmission.
In a separate development, Nvidia has announced that its Spectrum-X Ethernet silicon photonics technology is now in full production. The new generation of Spectrum-X switches is built on co-packaged optics (CPO) technology, supporting the horizontal and cross-regional expansion of the Vera Rubin platform for deploying AI factories in data centers. Compared to networks using traditional transceivers, the Spectrum-X Ethernet silicon photonics technology delivers a fivefold improvement in energy efficiency, a fivefold increase in AI uptime, and a 1.3 times faster deployment time.
