Stock News06-04

Mabwell (Shanghai) Bioscience Co., Ltd. (ASX: 688062), also known as Mabwell-B (ASX: 02493), has announced that its clinical trial application for the investigational drug 9MW5211 injection has received approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).

The approval is for a clinical trial targeting the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) indication. In addition to this Chinese approval, the company's clinical trial application for the IBD indication in the United States has already received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Furthermore, the company has submitted applications to the NMPA for clinical trials of 9MW5211 for other indications, including multiple sclerosis (MS), and these submissions have been accepted for review. The company is actively advancing the clinical trial application process for additional indications.

About the Investigational Drug

9MW5211 is a novel, highly specific depleting antibody independently developed by the company. It is designed to precisely target and intervene in the key pathological mechanisms mediated by abnormal immune cells in autoimmune diseases.

The abnormal activation and tissue infiltration of immune cells are central drivers in the development and progression of many autoimmune disorders. The molecule targeted by 9MW5211 is specifically expressed on the surface of these pathogenic immune cells and serves as a critical biological marker for their aberrant activation.

By selectively identifying and clearing this population of disease-causing cells, 9MW5211 can effectively block the immune cascade response. This mechanism is expected to alleviate disease progression and improve clinical symptoms in patients.
