Bulletin Express04-28 21:24

Cathay Holdings released its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, detailing advances in governance, environmental stewardship and social responsibility across its higher-education and livestreaming e-commerce businesses.

Governance Framework • The Board remains the highest decision-making body for ESG matters, supported by a three-tier structure that links decision, management and execution levels. • Integrity measures include a whistle-blowing hotline, anti-fraud group investigations and annual reporting to the Audit Committee; no corruption cases were recorded in 2025. • Comprehensive compliance systems cover anti-corruption, data security, copyright protection and responsible marketing, with zero legal non-compliance incidents during the year.

Environmental Performance • Group-wide greenhouse-gas emissions decreased 1.07% year-on-year to 19,629.24 tCO₂e, driven by lower Scope 1 emissions in both business segments. • Electricity use fell 1.57% to 32,014.94 MWh, reflecting energy-saving initiatives such as smart temperature control and LED lighting. • Total water consumption rose to 1.58 million m³, attributable to expanded campus activity; mitigation measures include rain-water harvesting and upgraded low-flow fixtures. • Hazardous waste generation dropped 42.31% to 0.45 tonne, while non-hazardous waste climbed to 20,568.73 tonnes following a larger student body; waste-sorting and supplier take-back schemes are being expanded.

Climate-Risk Management • A Board-level climate governance model has been adopted, with dedicated management teams charged with risk identification and scenario analysis. • Transition and physical risks—ranging from stricter product regulations to extreme weather—are mapped and integrated into the enterprise-risk system; detailed emission-reduction targets are under development.

Social Metrics • Total headcount grew 9.2% to 2,536, of which 2,480 are in education and 56 in e-commerce. • Female employees represent 55.71% of the workforce; employees aged below 30 account for 15.26%. • The University achieved a 98.36% graduate-confirmation rate and reported employment or further-study placement for 96.24% of 2025 graduates. • Training hours totalled 20,078, with 50% of employees receiving formal development programmes.

Supply-Chain Oversight • The approved supplier base expanded to 431, dominated by Eastern China (309 suppliers). • All new suppliers undergo environmental and social due-diligence checks; green-procurement requirements have been embedded in bidding documents.

Community Investment • The Group organised 70 volunteer activities, recording 10,387 service hours. • E-commerce livestreams promoted local agricultural products, supporting rural revitalisation initiatives in Jiangning and Yancheng.

Looking Ahead Cathay Holdings plans to formalise quantitative climate targets, extend Scope 3 tracking and widen green-procurement coverage, reinforcing its commitment to regulated, transparent and sustainable growth.
