With the May Day holiday approaching, road traffic is expected to be heavy, weather conditions changeable, and road situations complex. Areas around tourist attractions and commercial districts will see dense flows of vehicles and pedestrians, while risks associated with long-distance driving, nighttime travel, and riding after alcohol consumption are set to rise significantly. Under the guidance of regulatory authorities, DiDi has fully activated its holiday safety assurance plan, conducting preemptive risk assessments, organizing emergency drills, and upgrading its safety AI model to ensure orderly travel and the safety of drivers and passengers during the holiday period.
To detect risks earlier and more accurately, DiDi has developed and continues to enhance its safety AI model platform, building on years of accumulated safety expertise. Leveraging a multimodal risk assessment model that integrates natural language processing, abnormal order analysis, and real-time trip monitoring, the platform efficiently screens for potential safety hazards across vast numbers of orders, enabling safety experts to verify risks and assess scenarios more effectively. For trips identified as high-risk, the platform initiates measures such as remote calls, safety alerts, and emergency notifications to prevent escalation. Orders deemed temporarily safe by experts are continuously monitored and re-evaluated by the AI system. This collaborative approach between AI and human experts ensures that potential risks are not overlooked while improving efficiency, allowing experienced safety personnel to oversee more orders.
DiDi’s safety AI model also intelligently identifies various risk scenarios, including distracted driving, fatigue driving, and speeding. Through voice calls and in-car device alerts, drivers receive real-time reminders and warnings, minimizing the likelihood of accidents. Given the demanding nature of holiday driving, DiDi urges drivers to prioritize safety by staying focused, avoiding fatigue and distractions, and adhering to mandatory rest periods. In crowded areas or at crosswalks, drivers are advised to slow down and yield to pedestrians. To support drivers working during the holiday and help passengers secure rides more quickly, DiDi will distribute nearly 4 billion yuan in subsidies, offering incentives such as commission-free cards, earning boosts, and completion bonuses. Additionally, the platform will trial peak-hour service fees in certain cities during busy periods, providing drivers with higher earnings.
As a comprehensive mobility platform, DiDi continues to expand its service offerings while enhancing safety measures tailored to diverse scenarios. With millions of daily trips completed safely, the greatest challenge lies not in known risks but in hidden hazards beneath the surface. DiDi is committed to investing in advanced technologies to build a refined, intelligent safety management system capable of real-time alerts and proactive risk identification.
However, ensuring safety requires collective effort. Challenges such as insufficient information, difficulty in risk identification, and real-time intervention persist. DiDi encourages users to participate in safety initiatives by using ride-hailing features responsibly—for instance, ensuring minors do not travel alone and fostering risk awareness. Users are advised to avoid offline transactions, as safety measures do not apply outside the platform, and to refrain from sharing personal contact details to prevent disputes. Passengers under the influence of alcohol may report their status to enable additional monitoring, while features like trip sharing with family members provide added peace of mind. Female passengers can opt for the "Women-Friendly Ride" service, prioritizing female drivers, and accessible or pet-friendly travel options are also available.
Safety remains the top priority. Wishing everyone a joyful and secure holiday season!
