The union of Jizhong Energy Fengfeng Group’s Matou Coal Preparation Plant has prioritized improving employees' quality of life by addressing their daily needs in clothing, food, housing, and transportation. Through its "Livelihood Checklist," the union has delivered tangible benefits, earning gratitude from workers.
One significant improvement involves solving the long-standing commuting difficulties faced by employees living in Handan city. Previously, workers had to transfer multiple buses to return home after shifts, a journey made even more challenging during harsh weather. Now, with the union’s initiative, shuttle buses have been arranged to transport employees directly to the Wangfeng Jiayuan residential area. "It saves time and hassle—the union has done a great thing," said Mr. Wu from the plant’s logistics department.
To address this issue, the union established a dedicated task force, collaborating with Handan’s public transport company to provide free shuttle services for employees. The plant allocates over 100,000 yuan annually for this initiative alone.
Beyond transportation, the union has introduced innovative measures to enhance convenience. For instance, three unmanned vending machines were installed across the plant after surveys revealed that many worksites were far from service areas, making it difficult for employees to purchase daily necessities. The machines, stocked with over 30 types of products, offer items at below-market prices while ensuring quality and food safety. A replenishment system guarantees daily restocking.
Additionally, after learning that many employees desired more variety in meals, the union promptly purchased a dumpling-making machine for the canteen. Now, workers enjoy different dumpling fillings weekly.
The union also invests wisely in employee welfare, such as covering Wi-Fi costs, installing water purifiers in dining halls and dormitories, and providing insulated lunch boxes. These efforts reflect the plant’s commitment to improving living standards without unnecessary extravagance.
By actively listening to employees and implementing practical solutions, the union continues to elevate workplace satisfaction and well-being.
