COSCO SHIPPING Holdings: 2025 Sustainability Report Shows 26.28% Drop in Emission Intensity, Revenue at RMB 219.50 Billion

COSCO SHIPPING Holdings (COSCO SHIPPING) released its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining operational, environmental and social results for the year ended 31 December 2025.

Financial & Operating Snapshot • 2025 revenue reached RMB 219.50 billion, with profit attributable to equity holders at RMB 30.86 billion and income-tax expense at RMB 6.77 billion. • The self-owned container fleet expanded to 590 vessels with aggregate capacity of 3.6 million TEUs, while port subsidiary COSCO SHIPPING Ports managed 387 berths across 40 ports and handled 133 million TEUs annually. • Route network totaled 455 services covering 654 ports in 146 countries.

Climate & Environmental Progress • Scope 1 + 2 greenhouse-gas emissions intensity for container operations fell 26.28% versus 2019 to 109.10 tCO₂e per RMB million of revenue; total Scope 1 + 2 emissions were 22.99 million tCO₂e. • Direct energy use was 81.78 billion kWh; indirect electricity purchase reached 26.98 million kWh. • Three methanol dual-fuel vessels were delivered, bringing the orderbook for methanol dual-fuel ships to 39 units (≈730,000 TEUs). • Biofuel consumption rose to 417,545 t, accounting for 4.93% of total marine fuel use. • Port segment drew 10 million kWh of shore power and lifted renewable-energy capacity to 22 MW, generating 24 million kWh.

Social & Governance Highlights • Group headcount stood at 32,768 employees; average training time reached 56 hours, up 19.15% year-on-year. • Lost-time injury frequency rate was 2.75‰ with zero work-related fatalities. • RMB 30.98 million was invested in rural-revitalization projects; public-welfare donations totaled RMB 14.17 million. • Supplier base numbered 43,494, with strengthened ESG screening and an annual evaluation mechanism in place.

Strategic Initiatives • Digital platforms such as FlexMatch, GlobalEase and RailSea Link were rolled out; an AI-driven Q&A assistant processed 6.01 million enquiries. • The company issued its “Hi ECO” blockchain-based green-shipping product, providing clients with traceable carbon-reduction certificates. • A joint industry initiative on seafarer welfare was announced, proposing full-cycle health management and mental-health protection.

Outlook COSCO SHIPPING targets a 12% reduction in container-shipping GHG intensity and a 20% cut in terminal-emission intensity by 2030 (baseline 2019/2020 respectively). The board reiterates its commitment to net-zero shipping by 2050 and plans continued investment in alternative-fuel vessels, digital supply-chain platforms and port electrification.
