Wistron's Texas AI Superchip Plant Begins Operations for NVIDIA, Driving Sharp Rally in Taiwan Shares

Shares of Wistron Corporation surged by 9.7% on Wednesday.

This Taiwanese technology services provider announced the official start of production at its first manufacturing facility in the United States, which is dedicated to producing AI servers for NVIDIA.

The new $700 million, 324,000-square-foot D1 AI Smart Factory in Fort Worth, Texas, is currently mass-producing the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra superchip, an advanced artificial intelligence computing platform.

The plant is also slated to expand production to include the NVIDIA Vera Rubin superchip, a core product designed to power the next generation of AI computing capabilities.

In a press release, Wistron Chairman Simon Lin stated, "Over the coming years, as we build out AI infrastructure on U.S. soil, this campus will become one of the world's most critical production bases."

The launch of this new facility highlights a significant trend: following TSMC's announcement last week of increased investment in Arizona, multiple Taiwanese tech giants are continuing to expand their production footprint within the United States.

This new Wistron factory will enhance NVIDIA's AI server production capacity and expand local U.S. capabilities for system integration, assembly, and testing.

The related systems can connect to the NVIDIA DSX infrastructure platform, facilitating the large-scale deployment of high-efficiency AI factories.

Wistron indicated that the plant, leveraging digital manufacturing, energy optimization, and a localized operational model, is establishing a new paradigm for AI infrastructure production.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang remarked, "AI factories are the core engines of a new industrial revolution. Market demand is exceptionally strong, and this type of production capacity must be geographically diversified across the globe."

Wistron stated that the Fort Worth facility will serve as the central hub for its U.S. manufacturing operations, and this investment also signifies a new phase in the development of AI infrastructure.

NVIDIA's collaborative manufacturing base spans 43 U.S. states, with partners including Wistron, TSMC, and Foxconn.

It is projected that by 2026, the related industry chain will contribute $485 billion to the U.S. gross domestic product.
