Luckin Coffee Launches Alcoholic Beverages Nationwide After Three-Year Hiatus

Deep News05-18

On May 18, Luckin Coffee Inc. (LKNCY) officially introduced two new alcoholic specialty beverages across its national store network. The drinks, named "Crimson Moonlight" and "Cocoa Vienna," are offered in a 400ml medium cup size and are priced at 15.9 yuan per cup.

Currently, only the "Crimson Moonlight" option can be customized with the addition of London Dry Gin, with its alcohol by volume clearly labeled as exceeding 0.5% vol. According to China's national standard for "Terminology and Classification of Alcoholic Beverages" (GB/T 17204-2021), beverages with an alcohol content above 0.5% vol are classified as "alcoholic drinks."

It is noteworthy that in 2023, Luckin Coffee collaborated with Moutai to launch a co-branded "Sauce-flavored Latte." However, as its alcohol content was below 0.5% vol, it was not regulated as an alcoholic beverage. Since that collaboration, Luckin Coffee had not introduced any drinks containing alcohol until now.
