A viral video posted on August 19th has sparked heated online discussion, showing a hotel guest room in Qingdao, Shandong Province, filled with stacks of bottled water. The footage reveals hundreds of water packs piled against the walls and at the foot of the bed, occupying nearly half of the room's space.

On the morning of August 20th, a reporter contacted the hotel, and manager Ms. Ding confirmed that the room shown in the video does belong to their property. She explained that this particular room is not available for sale and is currently being used as temporary storage for drinking water. Occasionally, it is also provided free of charge to tour group drivers or guides, with no fees collected.

The video quickly drew amused reactions from netizens, with some joking, "Did you check into a warehouse?" and "You can never finish drinking all that." Another commenter quipped, "They actually arranged for you to sleep in a storage room." The original poster responded lightheartedly, "Don't think of it that way. They said I could drink the water freely, just not take it away. That's a lot of trust they've placed in me!"

The location tag on the video identified the establishment as a Homeinns Boutique hotel branch in Qingdao. Attempts to reach the video's poster for further comment were unsuccessful as of the time of reporting.

When reached for clarification, Ms. Ding elaborated on the situation: "We have 98 rooms in total. During the summer, our water consumption is high, and we don't have extra storage space, so we set aside one room purely for storing water." She also addressed why a guest was present in the room, noting that it is sometimes offered at no cost to tour guides or drivers accompanying travel groups. "We explain the situation at check-in. Since the room is complimentary, the guides and drivers are all aware of the arrangement," she added.

According to Ms. Ding, the guest in the video was a driver who stayed in the room and found the sight amusing enough to film and share online.
