Guangxi Expressway Network to Deploy 104 BYD Flash Charging Stations

Byd Company Limited has partnered with Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group to roll out a major flash charging network across the region's expressway services. The collaboration, formalized on August 3rd, will see the construction of 104 flash charging stations at 52 service areas along 26 expressways in Guangxi. These locations include stops such as Fangcheng, Shangsi West, and Dongxing, covering 12 prefecture-level cities across the autonomous region.

This initiative marks Guangxi's first large-scale, systematic deployment of a flash charging network on expressways, with the project's scale ranking among the largest of its kind in China. The stations will be equipped with 234 units of the second-generation BYD flash charging piles, each delivering a peak power of 1500 kW per gun, making them the highest-power charging piles in mass production globally. Vehicles equipped with BYD's second-generation blade battery can charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, adding 400 to 500 kilometers of range. Reaching 97% from 10% takes only nine minutes, offering what has been described as a "five-minute charge, nine-minute fill" experience.

Prior to this agreement, the 52 service areas under Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group already housed over 800 charging units, including the region's first 600kW liquid-cooled supercharging station and its first 400kW-class heavy-duty truck supercharging station. Over the past year, these facilities have served 1.8585 million new energy vehicle trips, consuming 30.3629 million kWh of electricity. The new flash charging network represents a significant upgrade, aiming to alleviate pressure on key routes during peak travel periods and improve the travel experience for the public. This proactive measure supports China's national "dual carbon" strategy and advances Guangxi's transition toward green, low-carbon transportation.
