JD.com Rushes Emergency Supplies to Flood-Hit Chongzuo County in Guangxi for Second Time

Torrential rains triggered by Typhoon Zitan, the 19th of the season, have battered multiple areas of Chongzuo City in Guangxi, with Ningming County facing particularly severe conditions as rivers surged past warning levels and the flood control response was elevated to the highest tier. In response to the escalating crisis, JD.com activated its emergency protocol immediately, coordinating with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Department of Commerce and the local county government to dispatch a shipment of essential goods, including bottled water, instant noodles, bread, and congee.

On the evening of August 25th, prioritizing crew safety, JD Logistics deployed dedicated personnel and vehicles from its Nanning Asia One warehouse to transport the supplies overnight to the affected areas in Ningming County. This rapid mobilization is part of the company's broader effort to support local flood prevention and disaster relief operations. In addition to daily necessities, JD Health has rushed 19,000 units of emergency medical supplies to the disaster zone, addressing urgent needs for skin cleansing, wound care, and treatment of mild dermatitis. The donation includes cotton swabs, iodine cotton balls, sterile dressing kits, breathable bandages, and dermatological medications for non-infectious skin irritations caused by prolonged water exposure and insect bites.

This marks the second time in just over a month that JD.com has extended a helping hand to flood-stricken regions in Guangxi. Back in July, in the wake of flooding caused by Typhoon Maysak, the company donated nearly 40,000 packages of daily necessities to multiple affected areas, including Hengzhou in Nanning. At that time, 27 delivery personnel and drivers from the Hengzhou and Liujing branches worked through heavy rain to unload and distribute supplies. JD Logistics also mobilized several emergency drones to conduct relief operations, coordinating efforts across water, land, and air. Meanwhile, JD Health provided 21,000 items of health assistance materials, including trauma care, disinfection supplies, and essential medications, along with 2,000 doses of antivenom for snake bites, ensuring preparedness for venomous bites during rescue operations.

"Seeing Guangxi suffer such massive floods really weighs on my heart," said Xu Mingdong, manager of the Nanning Asia One warehouse. "This is my second time participating in relief efforts for Guangxi. After receiving the donation request, my colleagues and I immediately took stock of the inventory, arranged for goods to be dispatched and loaded, ensuring the fastest possible delivery to the disaster area."

The JD Logistics drone team is also on standby, ready to assist with emergency response, including transporting relief supplies, planning rescue routes, guiding evacuations, assessing road damage, surveying landslide risks, monitoring flood extents, and conducting disinfection operations when necessary.

The swift and efficient emergency response stems from JD.com's longstanding disaster relief principles. Richard Liu, founder and chairman of the board, established an internal rule: "In the event of any disaster anywhere in the country, managers at nearby warehouses have the authority to donate necessary supplies without prior approval." Additionally, the company promptly sets up emergency support teams to guarantee dedicated transportation for relief goods.

Looking ahead, JD.com will continue to monitor the evolving situation and on-the-ground needs under the guidance of local government authorities, ensuring the seamless allocation and delivery of subsequent supplies while actively contributing to flood control and post-disaster recovery efforts.
