At the "Global Capital Market Development Trends" thematic forum held during the Tsinghua PBCSF Global Finance Forum 2026 in Chengdu, Sichuan, from May 17 to 20, Zhang Xin, Chairman of Morgan Stanley Securities (China) Co., Ltd., shared his insights.
Zhang Xin highlighted that rising macroeconomic uncertainties are driving structural adjustments across industries, while the resilience demonstrated by various micro-sectors in managing risks is simultaneously translating into noteworthy investment opportunities. He identified three key areas for attention.
First, the artificial intelligence and its infrastructure sector. AI technology holds significant potential to enhance productivity over the medium to long term. Second, investment opportunities arising from the energy transition. The current high dependence on energy in Asian countries is propelling a shift towards a medium to long-term energy structure transformation, underpinned by energy security strategies. Finally, the reshaping of global supply chains, guided by economic security considerations, is also expected to create structural opportunities.
