Value investor Duan Yongping said on October 25 on Xueqiu that he once invested in Netflix (NFLX) but did not hold on, exiting after a one-time gain, and that the stock later rose about 100 times.

He added that he is now “following it just as a keepsake,” saying he “didn’t really spend time to understand this business” and that he sold because he “felt he didn’t understand it.”

The remarks came in a thread attached to a question from user “Duhou de Touzi Xiao Meigui,” who asked how he views Netflix’s traditional film production model versus competition from AI-generated, rapid-turnaround video. The question argued that AI may be more efficient and faster but may still lag human directors in capturing inner emotions, atmosphere, and psychological nuance. The thread displayed 16 reposts and 20 discussions.
