Deep News06-18

The Export-Import Bank of China (Exim Bank) has recently acted as a joint lead underwriter, facilitating the issuance of Panda bonds in China's interbank bond market for Barclays PLC and an overseas-listed company.

Facilitating Another Panda Bond Issuance for Barclays

On June 17th, the Export-Import Bank of China assisted Barclays PLC in successfully issuing 5 billion yuan in Panda bonds. The issuance comprised 2.5 billion yuan with a three-year tenor and 2.5 billion yuan with a five-year tenor (including a call option), carrying coupon rates of 1.73% and 1.98% respectively.

As the first UK issuer of Panda bonds, this marks Barclays PLC's third entry into the Panda bond market, setting a new record for its issuance size. This provides a valuable reference for more international issuers to deepen their engagement with China's bond market and will further promote the connectivity between domestic and international capital markets, as well as enhance economic and trade cooperation between China and the UK.

Facilitating a First-time Sci-Tech Innovation Panda Bond Issuance for an Overseas-listed Company

On June 16th, the Export-Import Bank of China assisted an overseas-listed company, which focuses on the research, development, and manufacturing of new energy vehicles, in issuing its first Sci-Tech Innovation Panda bond. The bond has a size of 2 billion yuan, a three-year tenor, and a coupon rate of 1.75%.

The Export-Import Bank of China continues to deepen the coordination between its headquarters and branches, leveraging a comprehensive suite of financial tools including credit and bond underwriting. This supports enterprises in optimizing their financing structures, enhancing independent innovation capabilities, and accelerating vehicle development and internationalization processes.

As one of the first institutions to participate in the underwriting and investment of Panda bonds in China's interbank market, the Export-Import Bank of China has long made positive contributions to the development and momentum of the Panda bond market. Moving forward, the bank will continue to actively respond to the diverse financing needs of international issuers, injecting more robust financial impetus into advancing the high-level opening-up of the financial sector.
