South Korea Announces 14.9 Trillion Won Financing Aid for Businesses Impacted by Weak Won

South Korea's finance ministry stated on Friday that it will provide 14.9 trillion won (approximately $97 billion) in emergency financing support to small and medium-sized enterprises affected by the increasing operational pressures stemming from the weak Korean won.

Finance Minister Choo Kyung-ho noted that volatility in foreign exchange and financial markets persists, and livelihood difficulties remain, with consumer prices in June rising 3.2% year-on-year.

Choo Kyung-ho made these remarks during an emergency economic meeting held on Friday.
